Well, it's really the Red Sail's Bar, but John Wells has been the bar manager for so long most of us think of it that way :)

Although we love to joke about it being a "waterfront" bar somewhat akin to Jimmy Buffet's "Pascagoula Run", in actuality, it's a warm, friendly bar that perfectly matches the flavor of the restaurant. We think it is the coolest bar, and best kept secret, in San Diego ... which really makes us wonder why the h#%l we're even putting it on the site :)

However, in keeping with our attempt at a "waterfront" ambiance, here are some caveat's, and thoughts :)

  1. Johnny don't allow no stinking blenders in the place, so if you want "frozen" you be outta luck matey. There's a traditional mixer ... but no blenders.
  2. See Rule #1, and think twice about ordering a virgin strawberry Daiquiri ... or any other sorority foo-foo drink ... especially on a busy Friday night
  3. No Coors will be served here! don't ask, don't whine ... we're Bud Boys
  4. Save your pleas for Pepsi, we go to sea with
    Coca-Cola
  5. Likewise, we're a Bushmills bar, don't even ask for Jamesons.
  6. Leave your d#&n cell phone in the car, or set it for stun.
  7. "No" the hostess won't lie for you when your spouse calls!
  8. Don't yammer constantly ... occasionally shut up, and watch how your social standing soars with the regulars :)

Johnny is famous for his Irish Coffee. It is the Red Sails specialty .... and we believe it rivals the Buena Vista's in every respect ... plus our weather is nicer and San Diego girls are cuter.

Johnny re-arranged the keg locker, and now there is Michelob, Bud Light and both Calico and Yellowtail from Ballast Point Brewing on tap.

By the way ... the "real" Johnny's Bar is a great dive, motorcycle bar and philosophy center located on the main drag of Hollister CA. During a July 4th Harley Rally, I was taught the meaning of the "Hereafter" by a beautiful biker girl, when she told me; "If you're not here after what I'm here after, you'll be here after I'm gone" :)
